Re: Anyone in Vet Tech Semester 2 and Beyond the English Class?

Never get yourself in a rut. I take every RTN as a way to know how I messed up, and can improve. Im telling you now, this class is a complete pain in the rear, but if you buckle down, and just truck along, you can make headway. I know for me, I cannot wait to be done!!!! So it makes me even more determine to just get it out of the way!I dont care about my GPA at this point either.

So there is this weird exam retake glitch in Penn Foster

I have taken a Practical English exam and received a 95% grade. Since that is well above 60% (the highest failing grade), Penn Foster's new(ish) exam retake policy should leave me without the option to retake it. However, I just noticed that I was given the option to retake it anyway. I'm not sure if retaking the exam will actually do anything beneficial, since Penn Foster staff said that you can only get a 65% (the lowest passing grade) on retakes now.

Good afternoon!

The retake policy actually changed as of midnight.  You are now able to retake any exam (not just those that earn failing grades) for a better grade.  Also, you are now able to receive up to 100% on the retake!  It's not an exam glitch at all, but the new policy.

So they changed it back, I see. That's pretty good news!

Glad to know I'm not the only one having difficulties focusing on my school.

Lately I have been getting distracted a lot with supplemental or other videos, as well as reading stuff on Wikipedia. Even after doing my school for the day, whenever I want to focus on making videos, I have this issue.

Hi Tabby,

I'd like to first qualify that 1) I'm not a lawyer or even knowledgeable about laws, except you must stop if the light turns red. 2) I'm not yet a published fiction writer but that is about to change soon.

Here is a very good resource that should serve to answer your question:

Retaking Exams

I am currently in my 4th course of my first semester for the Vet Tech program. I recently took my ENG 103 lesson 1 exam and I got an 80. It's passing, but unfortunately I wanted nothing lower than a 90 so I already had it figured out what I need to at least get on my next two exams for ENG103 to get an A in the course. But today I went to my page and I got a notification saying that I was eligible to retake my exams, including the one I got an 80 on plus three more from my previous course of Intro to Vet Tech. I got 90s and above on those three exams. I'm confused because I remember reading a response to someone's question in regards to retaking an exam and they were told that they could only be eligible to retake if they failed with a 70 or below, but again I am eligible to retake my exams and I got passing scores on all of them, with my 80 being the lowest. I retook the exam and got 100. When I went to my overall grade report, it shows the exams and tells me I have until a certain date to retake those and then the one I retook shows my previous grade of 80 and then current of 100. Will this effect my overall grade of the course or will the instructor only take the higher of the two being the 100? Or will they take the average of the two and that be my final grade for that particular exam?

Sorry for all the confusing questions, but I am a little confused and caught off guard considering how I wasn't expecting to be able to retake any of my exams seeing how I technically passed all of them. Any help would be really appreciated. And I am going to ask my instructor about this, I just wanted to see what others might know too first. TIA!

apparently this has changed back..I received notice today that I was eligible to retake an exam I scored a 90% on and would receive the higher of the two scores( which was the policy before ) Can someone tell me when the policy was changed, also no one seems aware of the change. I know I never received any notification..thanks

exam retake policy

Am I the only one that was unaware we are now eligible to retake exams and get the higher of the two scores like we could before. I scored a 90% and was given the option of a retake with the higher score counting,( this was today and is verified in an email b/c I thought it was a computer error) so no more only if you fail and 70% is the best you can get, I was never made aware that the policy had reverted back..

Psychology Exams - Retakes

Hello,

I just posted a discussion board for Psychology.  When I updated my estimated semester completion date, the exams I had previously completed for Psychology are now showing as "R" - available as a retake.

The option to retake an exam was done away with awhile ago.

Has something changed again?

Thank you,

Jeanette

You cannot send in a draft however you can call or email with any specific questions. If there are any big issues with the paper there is a chance that it can be returned with notes for review. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your message.

I have taken advantage of the new exam retake availability (twice, as I got another 95% on my second exam), and I can confirm that they are back to where they were before Penn Foster staff changed the retakes to be limited to 65% max and only available when an exam returned with a below-passing grade. (Unfortunately, I was unable to improve to 100%, but I did correctly answer the questions I got wrong.)

Hello, I am a current student.  I also am beginning the Microsoft lessons as well.  I am looking forward to finishing these lessons as soon as I can.  I have been researching a lot of host agencies lately and it seems there a few good ones to choose from if you decide to take that route!  Good Luck!

Hi this is what I was thinking, but I question this just because I got an 80 on my exam the other day and then today it offered me an opportunity to retake the exam as well as three other past exams which I received 90s and above. I retook the one where I got an 80 and I got 100. It shows both my previous score of the 80 and my retake of the 100 on my grade report. What I was trying to find out is why would I be offered this on my tests where I passed all of them with As except the one with an 80 and be eligible to retake all of them?

I got the same thing today where it says I can retake my last 4 exams in which I got 90s or above on except my most recent one where i got an 80. I retook that one and it shows both scores on my grade report. I was curious as to the new policy and to find out why some people are only about to get as high as a 70 on their retakes when I was able to get 100. I'm guessing its because I didn't fail it in the first place, but I retook it so I can get an A and make my chances of getting an A on my overall course.

I found this when looking through Academic Forums F.A.Q. section Exams. This is what I was questioning and so maybe it will help someone else who has the same question. For now though for me, I think I got my answer in regards to my retake as I understand the policy has just changed recently back to what it used to be. You do not have to fail to retake an exam. Mine did not pop up for retake immediately though and my program does give me specific dates that I can retake my exam by, not a full 30 days.

"The Facts on Taking Make-up Exams

  1. Retaking a multiple-choice exam is now optional.  Previously it was not available if you passed the first
take, and required if you failed.  Now, it is an option for anyone who wants to improve the grade they earned the first time, and you will earn the actual grade scored on the retake, up to 100%.
  2. There is no wait time between the first exam and the retake.  (Previously there was a 3-day waiting period in High School, and one day in all other divisions).  You may retake an exam immediately after seeing your first score.
  3. You have 30 days in which to retake an exam, whether you passed or failed it the first time.  After 30 days you will no longer be able to submit a retake for this lesson.
  4. The retake exam will have a new randomized set of questions. This is designed to better test your knowledge of the material. Be sure to answer all the questions on the retake, even those you got correct the first time around.
  5. Your final grade for any lesson will be the HIGHER of the two grades earned. If you only took it once, then the first grade you earned will become the grade of record."
