Hi!!! I'm new myself! I'm so excited and nervous about this journey but we can do it
Re: Very New
Vet Tech of the Day! Jenny Myers
Jenny Myers
Jenny is getting married in a week. She has a 14-year-old girl (any pointers would be appreciated haha). She has been at her current job for 11 years but vet clinics are the only places she has ever worked. She has 3 dogs and 1 and 1/2 cats.
1. Why did you choose to be a vet tech as your career?
The typical reply is that I love animals. While that is very true, it is absolutely a passion for me. It is definitely not for the money but knowing that I can help an animal and their owner in need. I want to be a comforting shoulder for both the animal and for the person that is with the animal at a potentially stressful time
2. What is your favorite thing about being a Vet Tech? Being an advocate for the pet. Comforting them when needed. Letting my doctor know how they are doing so that more treatment can be done if needed. Seeing those really sick pets walk out of the hospital after spending days in my care.
3. What is a "day in the life" as a Vet Tech in your clinic? Taking care of all hospitalized and boarding pets. Checking in all drop-offs before the doctor comes in. Setting up surgery for the day. Getting history on all appointments. Prepping surgeries. Fluids, nail, anal glands, fecals, dentals. Busy, busy
4. How did you get your job as a Vet Tech in your clinic? I have been a "tech" for years. I let life get in the way of school but now I'm almost finished with school. I started in the kennel doing baths, laundry, and walking dogs. I was lucky enough to be in a clinic that allowed me to work my way up
5. What advice can you give students trying to get a job in the field while still in the Vet Tech program? Get your foot in the door. Volunteer if you need to. Shelters need people to take care of the dogs. Be willing to help where needed. Shadow in a vet clinic. Anything to get in a vet setting. Step up and show that you can do things before being asked. Even if it is just cleaning a cage or dirty table. Take initiative
6. Describe your craziest day in the field. Been in the field too long think of 1crazy day but I've got plenty of stories. Things come in 3s. When one vomiting/diarrhea comes in, expect 2 more to follow. Or there was the time that the boarding cat vomited what was very obviously a tampon. Told the Mrs when she picked up her cat. Mrs very adamantly informed us that she did not use Tampons. Guessing the Mr had some explaining to do
7. What do you do to go above and beyond to be the best Vet Tech you can be? I cuddle when needed. Hand feed if required. Too many times to count my extra bedroom has turned into an overnight hospital suite for sick animals that I didn't want to leave at the clinic alone overnight
8. What does Vet Tech Week mean to you?
Technically, I'm an assistant but very, close my degree. I think it would be a great honor to be recognized for the hard work, missed lunches and bathroom breaks. My doctors work very hard to be the best they can be but we are a team and very much rely on each other
Happy Vet Tech week Jenny! You truly have a heart of gold opening your house to those pets, I one day hope to do the same! You go girl! You are a great role model to all students in the program, and are a true vet tech that I aspire to be like one day! Keep being a rockstar!!!

English Comp: impossible to pass?
I don't know about anyone else, but I've never had so many problems with a class as I have English Comp. Its been borderline impossible for me to get ahold of anyone to help me when I had questions. The assignments have been nothing but a waste of time. And every time I've submitted an assignment, it gets returned with comments from one instructor to do ABC and when I do that and resubmit, it gets returned with comments from a different instructor to do XYZ. I haven't actually learned anything from this class. All I know is I'm out of patience and 110% over this class. This class has been disappointing and showed me that Penn Foster doesn't care about its students or their education. I highly doubt I will continue with the PF program after this cluster of a class. I'd rather put my money towards a school that cares about its students educations throughout their career as a student, not once their grades have plummeted because of one garbage class.
Transfering Credits
I'm Wondering If I Started This Program In August But For Next Year 2018 I Wanna Transfer To A Different College To Go To Can I Do So?? Will I Have To Start All Over Again After All The Work I've Done So Far??

Re: Am I the only one in this class?
Hello Tabby,
I'm doing fine thank you for asking, although I could use a Best Seller!! It's nice to hear from you too. Hope all is going well for you. Tabby, it is very exciting to hear that you and your sister are going to co-author a horror novel, keep me updated as it would be an honor to host your work as one of my networked writer friends. If you and your sister are up to the challenge NANOWRIMO is coming up in a couple weeks. If you are not familiar with NANOWRIMO, it's National Novel Writers Month and it is held every November. Thousands of writers from all over participate and inspire one another. It's a great way to push yourself and your sister too, to get that Novel drafted.
I'll be writing my first SciFi novel during NANOWRIMO. November is shaping up to be one of those reclusive months, but the benefits will be worth it in the end.
Another network writer friend just fired off her first Children's book to a publisher. She is so anxious to hear if they are going to publish it or not. So again, write that Children's book, write, write, write. It's what we do.
So hope that helps and I'll check back as soon as possible, up until Halloween after that I'll be a ghost!
Best Wishes

Re: This is a true story...I lived it!
Lillian Bell,
You've made it back to the best place you can ever be! In God's arms! Isn't it a great feeling to know that someone cared about us enough to die for our sins, so that we could escape the horrors and traps that are laid out for us.
You may be aware of this already but if not please allow me to dedicate this song to you; it is titled 'Hope in front of me' by Danny Gokey!!!
It's my hope that you will enjoy it and glad you are back home sister.
Re: cant upload a project

Hello. I am new here. help please.
I recently started the high school course in July. I am barely just now making it the American History course. I haven't had to use a textbook until now. Please , can someone tell me where I can find the American history textbook online?
Re: Am I alone in this world?
Everyone here has given good solid advice here. I would add this! When you recall the event in your mind, then try to rerun it. Just like going back to the beginning of a DVD, try to rerun it a couple of times. When you go to rerun it the third time, write it.
Once you have it down on paper you now have a working copy and from there the world is in your hands, well at least your first draft is in your hands.
Best regards

Re: Intro to Veterinary Terminology
Hello! writing them down like notes or flash cards is great! Also, try saying the terms aloud to yourself. Its a technique that kind of helps me retain a little better.
