1981— The drug Paxipam (halazepam; Schering) was approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Halazepam is a benzodiazepine and is used as an antianxiety agent and as a sedative. It is not longer used in the US but still sold in Spain and Portugal. The fact that this drug is addictive and list of side affects of this drug (as with so many of this class is rather frightening).
