Re: Should I stay or should I go now?

I work at Banfield also, and have also worked at 3 private clinics in my career. Every doc is different, and will have his/her own preference as to duties performed by each role. At my current location, it's a team effort between reception, techs, and dr to educate our clients, and we work hard to be on the same page to avoid client confusion/frustration. However one dr I worked for did not want us doing any of the client education during a visit. For me the deal breaker would be whether he could be honest with me about my performance. If he feels you are giving inaccurate information due to lack of knowledge you have the right and need to know. Same goes with technical skills. The first 3-4 months I'm at a new location, I don't suggest any changes to the team. I ask lots of questions and ask the "why" of things on my radar, and take time to watch for success of these techniques. Then I feel informed enough about past/current clinic operations to be able to make a strong point when I suggest a change. I'm sorry you're having a rough time. If you've been there longer than 4 months, try to stick it out to a year if you can. It looks better on your resume.
