I totally disagree with this method. You make people sound stupid and mundane. I have lead anywhere from another person to over 1000 people to accomplish a common goal without the treats or pats on the head.
Humans by nature can be lead once they know and understand what the common goal is and how to go about achieving it. What most humans do not like it to be told what to do without understanding how they are supposed to do it and what the end result will be. I have trained dogs for 40+ years. I will tell you this. If you train a dog to respond to treats and the acknowledgement of you having them in your hand, have a limited ability to preform without reward.
What will have to a dog stuck in the middle of a busy road when he can see no reward present. He will get run over. waiting on the presentation of his treat. However if the same dog is trained to respond to known commands and knows you and has earned your respect and you his. He can be lead across the same road safely.
Pavlov's dogs conditioned response will only go so far. Dogs and humans that have be edified with respect, compassion and understanding will outdo the condition response any day of the week.
