It depends on the vet. There is a thin line. Every state has different rules for what a va can do and what a rvt can do. I live in Oklahoma and looked it up. What the rvt doesn't understand is why the school has me doing some things and not other things like learning how to give shots, vaccines and drawing blood. But I guess with school being on line they have to stay within certain boundaries. The rvt that I know has worked in veterinary clinics that have several veterinary and they did more for the veterinary. Most veterinary offices where I live don't have the assistant in on the office vists. I had to remind the veterinary of some of the things on my skills list. Like nail trim, ear cleaning in front of a client. This veterinary I am doing my externship with is much nice than the one I worked for years ago. All I have to do is ask him abou something and he will explain it.
